We live in a multicultural society with people who have different backgrounds, appearances and world views. However, when we interact with people who are culturally different, we sometimes judge them negatively due to our own stereotypes and prejudices. We may, for example, unconsciously stereotype people by their looks or mannerisms. My work explores the phenomenon of misjudging people and the embarrassment and uncomfortableness it may cause in daily life.

My research interrogates ideas put forward by diverse thinkers such as Nietzsche and the Dadaists particularly the nature of human consciousness and the relationship between mind and body.

As a consequence, my work draws on ideas of non-verbal communication such as looking, listening and gesturing through photomontage representations of body parts such as eyes, mouths, ears and hands. In doing so, the uncomfortableness of daily life is revealed.
